The average overweight woman burns about 2000 calories a day. 80% of 18 year old women have dieted because they just feel fat. A pound of body fat contains 3,500 calories. To lose a pound of body fat, you have to burn 3,500 calories more than you eat. To lose a pound a day, the average overweight woman must stop eating and to start doing 1,500 calories a day of extra exercise. To burn these extra calories, the overweight woman would have to ride a bicycle 5 hours a day every day while completely fasting.
