Frequently Asked Questions

What does whole food nutrition have to do with chiropractic care?

Combining whole food nutrition and chiropractic care will always give you the best opportunity to resolve the problems you’re having. There is always more than one side to a problem. Every problem has a chemical side and a structural side.

Whole food nutrition is designed to address the chemical side of your problem. Chiropractic care is designed to address the structural side of the problem. If you only work on one, your results will suffer. Just as you need sun and water to make a plant grow, you need good nutrition and hands on treatment to get your health back quickly and maintain it.

Why is chiropractic a better approach to back pain than drugs or surgery?

It is always better to start off conservatively, and then get more aggressive as the situation dictates. Gentle, specific chiropractic care has been used for over 100 years to decrease or eliminate back pain using human touch and conservative physical therapy techniques.

If you aren’t showing significant improvement with our conservative approach to your back pain, we will refer you to get more specific diagnostic testing and talk to you about seeking more aggressive treatment options, which might include a referral for the use of drugs or surgery.

How fast should I see results using chiropractic and whole food nutrition?

Most of our patients show significant improvement in decreasing pain and increasing energy in 2 weeks or less. Many people notice an improvement in just a few visits.

Every case is different and your results will depend on many factors, such as age, length of time with the problem, severity of the problem, the amount of arthritis or other medical conditions you may have, but we promise to get to the bottom of your problem or refer you to the proper healthcare professional.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

Every attempt is made to decrease the swelling and irritation in your back–which will help decrease your discomfort–before we give you a chiropractic adjustment. However, remember that the reason you need the adjustment is because that joint is not moving properly in the first place.

Most chiropractic adjustments do not hurt but can cause you to become startled or feel uncomfortable for a split second because your back joints are not used to being moved by a specific gentle force coming from outside your body. After you have experienced an adjustment once or twice, this feeling goes away and most people learn to relax and enjoy their adjustment experience.

Once I start getting adjusted, do I have to continue to come in for adjustments?

This is totally your decision. Chiropractic adjustments are designed to reset the spinal joints to take care of swollen painful areas. But many times, other problems compound which keep the problems coming back for months or years. Other techniques and education will be presented for you to understand your available options.

We have patients who only come in for adjustments when they hurt. We also have patients who come in on a regular basis to get “tuned up” so they can fend off problems before they start. You have to decide what will work best in your specific situation. Whatever you choose, we are there to support and continually educate you on ways to minimize office visits for your own best results.

What makes your supplements better than the ones I can buy over the counter?

The majority of the supplements you buy over the counter aren’t made from whole plant, fruit or herb sources. They are called isolates. What that means is that a complete fruit or plant is broken apart and specific isolated parts are put into a pill or capsule form. Many common supplements are isolated from coal tar.

Our office only uses whole food concentrates. Your body is designed to absorb vitamins and minerals from the plants, fruits and animal sources that are found in nature. When whole foods are concentrated and given to the body in the way it understands, miraculous things can happen. If only parts and pieces of these vitamins and minerals are given, the body doesn’t know exactly what to do and the majority of those isolates are excreted in urine.

How safe are chiropractic care and whole food nutrition?

Comparing a chiropractor’s malpractice rates to other health professionals provides a good measure of the safety of chiropractic care. Our malpractice rates are a small fraction of any other licensed healthcare provider due to our very conservative approach and our use of proven, effective techniques to treat your problems. The number of safety concerns and possible side effects of chiropractic care is extremely small compared to other healthcare providers.

All of our whole food supplements are organically grown fruits, vegetables and inspected animal tissue that meets or exceeds the standards set forth by Current Good Manufacturing Practices for Dietary Supplements 2007. This means that all of our supplements are required to pass a 10 step quality and testing certification before they leave the manufacturing facility to come into our office.

What makes your brand of chiropractic better than other chiropractors?

There are many excellent chiropractic practices in our area. This is why we work very hard to continually and consistently increase our knowledge and ability to provide you with superior chiropractic care. What makes us unique is our dedication to uncovering all the different aspects of your problem.

We won’t stop at the structural side of your problem. We want to understand how your digestion, blood sugar, energy systems and toxic load all play into your problems. These chemical issues can cause your structural problem to continue longer than they should; until they are discovered and addressed correctly, you will not reach your goal.

Why haven’t I heard about using chiropractic care from my primary care provider?

Referrals from primary care providers are happening in our office more and more every day. We have an extremely good working relationship with many of the primary care provider networks in central New Jersey. Many times, your primary care provider simply doesn’t consider you a chiropractic care candidate simply because they lack experience with using chiropractors.

Chiropractic care should be considered the first conservative option for patients experiencing back pain. If this is your current situation, mention chiropractic care to your primary care provider and see what the response is. Then decide on the next step to take.

Is chiropractic care covered under my insurance plan?

Every insurance plan is different. Contact your insurance company directly and ask them about your chiropractic benefits. We work with many of the main insurance companies including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, PersonalCare, Cigna, Aetna, Healthlink and many others.

If you have a specific insurance question don’t hesitate to call 732-641-2217 and we will be happy to answer your question to the best of our ability. We have submitted insurance claims electronically for over 12 years and are constantly updating our insurance procedures. We welcome your questions.
